Real-time Protection for Hyper-V has Arrived!
Double-Take Software proves its commitment to the virtualisation market with a real-time replication solution for the Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisor. “This is a market first. There are a number of solutions on the market for VMware ESX replication, including ours, but nothing yet for Hyper-V. It's also an alternative to our GeoCluster solution, which is already well positioned in the Microsoft environment” says Olivier Cohen, Sales Director – France, Double-Take Software. The Double-Take solution is now available to customers.
Who's it for?
Double-Take for Hyper-V is an alternative response for customers who need high availability but for whom the combination of Microsoft Failover Cluster and Double-Take GeoCluster is not the right answer. Double-Take for Hyper-V is much simpler to deploy than a cluster, and allows a more cost-effective approach to Hyper-V disaster recovery planning or continuous protection of Microsoft virtualised environments.
Strengths
Double-Take for Hyper-V is built on the familiar and proven Double-Take replication engine. Hyper-V virtual machines can be replicated in real time without the need for costly clustering and shared storage deployments.
Weaknesses
The solution currently doesn't support failover of just one of several virtual servers hosted on the same physical platform. But Double-Take Software and Microsoft are working on resolving the issues. The answer is expected in just a few months.
Competition
Nobody else currently offers a solution for Hyper-V. But it's highly probable that vendors such as Vizioncore and Veeam are working on solutions.
